Development in thermal process makes it necessary to have heat exchanger with higher efficiency. Using nano-fluid as heat transfer fluid can lead to higher efficiencies in heat exchangers. In this study, heat transfer properties of conventional and grooved heat exchangers is numerically investigated. Alumina nano-fluid with 5% concentration in and pure water as heat transfer fluid are studied. Results indicate that grooved heat exchanger has 10% higher efficiency compared with conventional heat exchanger. In addition, the grooved heat exchanger with nano-fluid has 8% improvement in efficiency. Increasing the concentration of nanoparticles up to 8 V/V%, increase in efficiency ofgrooved heat exchangers is about 10.6.
