Abstract:

The present paper was designed to investigate the relationships between father-adolescent conflict and anti-social behaviour in adolescents. A sample of 385 school-going adolescents’ boy and girl was randomly assigned to conduct this study. Cluster random sampling was used toselect the samples. The Delinquent Behaviour Scale (DBS) is used to measure anti-social behaviour among adolescents. It shows a positive relationship between father-adolescent conflictand anti-social behaviour among adolescents. The Pearson product-moment correlation analysis is utilized to answer the above objective. The following conclusion can be drawn from thepresent study. There is a positive significant correlation (r=.298**) between father-adolescent conflict and anti-social behaviour among adolescents. It was also shown that father-adolescentconflict was correlated with adolescent anti-social behaviour. That is, with an increase in fatheradolescent conflict, adolescent anti-social behaviour increases. The Multivariate RegressionAnalysis was used to reach the last objective. Multivariate Regression suggests that among the six predictor variables examined in this study (perceived inter-parental conflict, father-adolescentconflict, mother-adolescent conflict, family income, father’s age and mother’s age), only perceived inter-parental conflict, father-adolescent conflict, mother-adolescent conflict and family income significantly explain adolescents’ antisocial behavior. The total model explains.418 percent of the variance in adolescents’ antisocial behavior.
