Imperialism and Post-colonialism

The paper examines the approaches of imperialism and post-colonialism, and the related terms. Othering is the issue discussed in this paper and is in the heart of post-colonialism and Orientalism, which Said explains. Othering refers to the Orients as them, who are believed to deserve to be civilized and taught by the Europeans known as us . The concepts of race, difference and resistance are referred to as the concepts that postcolonial theory which is built largely upon. The Western concept of orient has been based on seeing the world as divided into two excluding opposites or two extreme poses. In this binary opposition the colonizer is privileged over the colonized, and also, the colonizer rejects to define the colonized, for the colonizer owns the political power and authority to express and define its own existence and superiority.
