Background and objective: Attention deficithyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is the most commonneurobehavioral disorder in children that createsproblems in parents-children relationships. Improvingfamilial and social interactions of these children needsmental and social interventions and parentsmanagement training (PMT) program is one of theseinterventions. The present study is aimed atdetermining effectiveness of PMT program on parentchildrelationship of parents with ADHD children.Methods: Through an experimental research, 40parents with ADHD child were selected based onpurposeful sampling. Twenty parents were randomlygrouped in intervention group who received an eightsessionintervention course (60min each session) andthe other twenty parents were grouped in the controlgroup and received no training intervention. Researchtools included a researcher-designed demographicsquestionnaire and Parker’s Bonding Instrument (PBI).Data gathering was done at pretest, posttest, andfollow up stages. The data was analyzed usingdescriptive and covariance analysis.Results: The results showed that PMT program wassignificantly effective on reducing excessive supportand increasing parent care index in parents withADHD children (P<0.05).Conclusion: The results supported effectiveness ofPMT program on parent-child relationship of theparents with ADHD children.
