Data is one of the main assets in any organization therefore maintaining and preserving it is an important issue. Aside from this, another issue is the constant increase in the amount of data due to itsnature and variety of data sources such as social networks and gene sequencing. This characteristic of data makes relational databases a limitation for effective storing and retrieving massive amounts of it.As a result, special technologies and storage infrastructures known as NoSQL databases are required. This paper is organized with the purpose to introduce these technologies and databases and also perform a thorough analysis on them. Various aspects such as advantages, disadvantages, applications, and specifications have been considered in the analysis. The deep comparison given in this paperwould be a very good reference for those users that are confused with the variety of storage infrastructure technologies. Based on the information provided in this paper and the requirements a user has, the best option could be easily selected.
