Management processes are integral to achieving high performance standard across most aspect of business. This is especially the case with Health, Safety & Environmental management. It is increasingly recognized that Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) performance of an organization can have as significant impact on the success of the organization as other business processes such as product development, manufacturing management & financial control. The management has to ensure that there are appropriate and robust systems in place to ensure effective HSE management. Such system need to be appropriate for type of organization and to reflect the inherent risk profile of organization’s activities. Failure to manage HSE demonstrates lack of management control as it leads to costly incidents and a loss of confidence in customers, shareholders and employees. Effective benchmarking for Health, Safety & Environmental management is a planned process by which an organization compares its HSE processes & performance with other in order to reduce losses & increase effectiveness of performance. This paper offers good steps for ffective benchmarking in Health, Safety & Environmental management process. This steps focus on adding value to business, controlling risk & achieving maximum cost effectiveness.
