Abstract:
The purpose of this research was to examine the role of work-related attitudes (job satisfaction and work engagement) and personality factors (self-efficacy and empathy) as predictors of nurses’ job performance particularly task performance. A total of 639 data sets derived from staff nurses working in private hospitals in Malaysia were used inthe present study. Results of the statistical analyses using Partial Least Squares (PLS) provided support for the hypothesized relationships. Specifically, only one work-related attitude (work engagement) and both personality traits (self-efficacy and empathy) were found to have positive effects on task performance. Finally, limitations, futureresearch suggestions, implications, and conclusion of the study are rendered.
