Abstract:
Cervical cancer is the second common cancer among women in worldwide after breast cancer. Thisis a cross-sectional study on 600 married women residing in Chalus and Noshahr , that wasconducted at two points in 2005(300 women) and 2016(300 women).the data were collected usingquestionnaires and were compared using SPSS. In both years, the most of respondents aged 20-39years, married for more than 15 years, and were house wives. The majority of subjects had at leastone Pap smear test. Education level in the majority of them in 2005 and 2016 was the high school andcollege, respectively. According to respondents in both of years similarly, the knowledge and trustof the Pap smear, suitability of the test, and the risk of cervical cancer were moderate. The effectivefactors to do Pap test were: proselytism, being free the test, death of family, knowledge andcognition of the test, the views of husband and others and guidance of health personals. Themajority of the subjects had little information about symptoms of cervical cancer and the most ofthem have not been trained about Pap test, however, they considered enough to access to expertpersonals for doing Pap test. According to the majority of respondents pap tests could be animportant factor in the identification and prevention of cervical cancer. In 2016, the hope fortreatment and diagnosis of cervical cancer symptoms increased, compared to 2005. Given theimportance of Pap test for cervical cancer prevention and increased hope for treatment of thiscancer, the Pap test need to be taken in consideration in implementing women s health initiatives.
