Abstract:

Because of war in Syria, it’s hard to assess the forest changing that havebeen affected by the war either directly or indirectly; the remote sensingtechnology is an easy way to getting an acceptable assessment to makea kind of alarming and try to saving this naturals treasures. By usingimages from Landsat 5 & 8, and processing it by remote sensingtechniques (TerrSet software, using MAXLIKE supervisedclassification by training areas, using image enhancement by filtering,NDVI), the change in the forestry cover of the biggest and the mostimportant natural forest mass in Syria was a little between years (2010,2011, 2013, 2014, 2015), but the study between the five first years and2016 showed a huge decreased, this decreased by -10% less. Althoughthe results showed that this decreased in the forestry covers neitherbecause of the war which has burned a huge areas of forests between2015 and 2016 or because of human wrong activity which increased by+16.42% in the same area of study. This study showed that the naturalresources in Syria not in save place especially Natural old forests like NorthWest forests, and its need seriously protection.
