Analysis of a Frequency Doubler for Ring Oscillators

In this paper a new method is proposed for analyzing a frequency doubler which is suitable for applications related to ring oscillators. In this approach, at first, a large signal regime is used to extract the necessary relationships for analyzing the doubler theoretically. Then mathematical expansions and tricks are applied to simplify the resulted equations, so that, the frequency content of branch currents are determined. Finally, simulations are employed to verify the theoretical results.
