Abstract:

The aim of this study was experimentally assessment of convective heat transfer and pressure drop characteristics of nanofluid viscous of zirconia water. Nanofluid are colloidal distribution of nanoparticles in metal, metal oxide, and carbon materials in based fluids and nanofluid are with better heat transfer compared to the base fluid. Flow loop was designed with vertical thermal profile to be active in laminar flow at Reynolds over 2000. Initial tests were conducted to validate the test with deionized water. Nanofluid zirconia was tested in volumetric loading of 0.3, 0.64 and 1.3 percent. The trial results, presented in Nusselt number and the dimensionless x+, are constant with the traditional model prediction if thermo-physical characteristics are used dependent on the load and temperature. Measured Nanofluid pressure drop is at 20 percent of the theory. It is deduced that quiet convective heat transfer and pressure drop viscous behavior of water zirconia nanofluid can be predicted using existing models until correct mixture features are used and the heat transfer rate is not unusual.
