Abstract:

Integration of renewable energy, in this study wind power, into electric power system and building a microgrid up in addition to having tremendous pros has always been confronting numerous challenges. One of the greatest challenges that is highly considered by this paper is the impacts imposed by different faults on power system stability and on the other side, on coordination and performance of protection system of power system. This paper makes behavioral comparisons in wind-turbine-integrated power systems which are categorized in microgrids category by modeling a distribution system and simulating single-phase and three-phase faults in transient and steady states. This paper has achieved a desirable cognition of the studied distribution system through behavioral comparisons upon different sorts of faults and their effects on the voltage and current of the distribution system in case of occurrence of different faults especially single-phase and three-phase faults so as to stability and protection of this wind power integrated system is investigated and known and appropriate and thus accurate planning and operation of power system prevents severe consequences of faults on the stability of power system and power electronic devices in such complex distribution system. A precise investigation in order to distribution system s stability and protection along with its effect on distributed generation (DG) and the opposite has been performed. Presence and absence of DG, different sorts of faults, different locations of wind turbine integration with distribution system, wind turbine power, and various locations of applied faults are of variables that have created behavioral comparison of fault types up and made this study an advantageous and rare research.
