خلاصه مقاله:
Breast carcinoma is the most important cause of cancer mortality among women globally. Both environmental and genetic factors are involved in the pathogenesis of breast cancer. Multiple geneticfactors can influence the risk and development of breast cancer. Genetic risk factors like variations in TOX3 which affect the liability for neoplasm play an important role in the tumorigenesis. TOX3 mapsto chromosome 16q12. Recently, a genetic polymorphism (rs3803662C> T) in TOX3 was reported to confer some degree of the risk of breast cancer in Caucasians. The aim of this study was to investigatethe association between this polymorphism and breast cancer among a population in North East Iran. The aim of this study was to investigate the association between this polymorphism and breast canceramong a population in North East Iran.In this study, we genotyped 184 patients and 322 controls using ARMS-PCR.Among controls, 167 samples (51.86%) had CC genotype, 128 samples (39.75%) had CTgenotype and 27 samples (8.38%) had homozygous TT genotype. While genotype frequencies in patients were as follows: 80 samples (43.47%) CC, 73 samples (39.67%) CT and 31 (16.84%) TTgenotype. Allele C frequency in controls and patients was 0.71 and 0.63 respectively. (OR: 0.67 CI: 0.517-0.90; P-value: 0.006).Our results suggest that TOX3-rs3803662 C> T polymorphism might resultin increased susceptibility to breast cancer in our population
