Abstract:

Highly porous N-doped carbon (NDC) has been successfully prepared by using KOH as activating agent and polyaniline as carbon precursor. This new sorbent was successfully synthesized by chemical activation of polyaniline followed by thermolysis under nitrogen. In order to study the effect of activation, polyaniline powder (PANI) was used as sorbent in CO2 adsorption. Experiments were done by volumetric method in a dual sorption vessel at 298 K and pressures up to 20 bars. The obtained results showed a highly maximum CO2 storage capacity of 0.6 mmol.g -1 and 0.17 at 298 K and 1 bar for NDC and PANI, respectively. Increasing in CO2 capture by NDC was attributed to a combination of a high level of N-doping and ultramicroporosity of prepared sorbent
