Abstract:

In this study pure mesoporous silica (SBA-15) and Functionalized SBA-15 materials were synthesized. Several characterization means such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), BET surface area, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy and thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA) were used for identifying the material before and after functionalization. Two different types of drugs and the effect of several variables were studied in batch adsorption experiments. These variables were contact time (0-72) hr. for both drugs, initial concentration (303.03- 3636.36) mg/l for amoxicillin & (200-2400) mg/l for chloramphenicol. The dosage of NH2-SBA-15 (606.06-7575.75) mg/l for amoxicillin and (200- 2200) mg/l for chloramphenicol.It was found that the efficiency of load capacity for amoxicillin was better than the chloramphenicol with the values of 80.37% & 62.04% respectively, and the results for release experiments was with best time for amoxicillin in an hour and a half an hour for chloramphenicol with the values of 50.14% & 41.35% respectively
