Abstract:

Nowadays the increase demand for tunneling construction in urban areas has evolve complex calculations and analyses in order to satisfy the correct simulation for this type of construction. At the present the tunnel are analyzed on the basis of Finite Element Method in a 2-D approach. The purpose of this study is to develop a computer program for the analysis of statically determinate 2-D tunnel on its dead loads. The proposed 2-D tunnel analyzed in this study is 8m in length with 5m height. In this paper, MATLAB programming language is used by applying matrix stiffness method to develop an analysis program for the proposed 2-D tunnel. Then the proposed tunnel is analyzed by existing engineering software, PLAXIS and ABAQUS to compare the results generated from the MATLAB analysis program for validation. This developing program automates tunnel analysis process. This study reveals step-by-step evaluations for the analysis of plane truss by using MATLAB code
