Abstract:

Breast cancer is a multi-factor disease. Some studies showed that mental andpsychological conditions have fundamental role in progression of cancers.Serotonin or 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) plays a role as both aneurotransmitter and a neuromodulator. The 5HT2A which are coupled to GProtein.Imbalance of immune system can lead to tumor progression. Serotoninplays an important role related to stress. 5HTR2A is in this prospective studywe investigated expression of the serotonin receptors (5HTR2A) in 30 bloodsamples of breast cancer patient in comparison with 30 healthy individuals. Weisolated peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) from blood samplesfollowed by total cellular RNA extraction, cDNA synthesis, and real-time PCRusing primer pairs specific for (5HTR2A) mRNA and beta-actin as an internalcontrol. Finally RT-PCR products were sequenced to confirmed amplicon.Statistical analysis showed significant increasing of 5HTR2A gene expressionin PBMC of patients. In conclusion, increasing of 5HTR2A may be play a role as stress factors inBreast cancer.
