Analysis for Design and Field Repair of Offshore Welded Structures

The application area for this project is marine structures subject to fluctuating loads, such as offshore platforms, jack ups, semi-submersible , and onshore structures. The objective is to generate better predictors for fatigue lives of these structures. This is done fatigue life predictions on hot spot stresses. This paper reports progress from an ongoing phD study developing equations for hot spot stresses. A numerical parameter study was conducted to study the influence of various geometric parameters. Parameters equations for SCF values were derived from the database generated in the parametric study.
