Abstract:

The recorded heart rate signals are affected by many factors, E.g. signals from urban vibrations, brain signals, signals from muscle mobility. These sources, called noise , will make it difficult to detect and diagnose main signals with medical analysis by make some changes on it.Electrocardiogram (ECG) signals represent important characteristics for diagnosing the disease or how the treatment works on the heart, which makes it necessary to design filters to weaken and eliminate these noises. In this paper, we will study three IIR-type digital filters called Butterworth, Chebyshev-I, and Chebyshev-II, to suppress the 50 Hz urban noise. The function of the filters has been tested on different cardiac signals. The results show that Chebyshev-I has the best performance in denoising ECG signals in both passband and stopbands.
