Abstract:

Breast cancer can be a devastating diagnosis, creating social, emotional, financial and psychological problems. Social support has been identified as an important contributor to general well - being that buffers the impact of stressful experiences, including those related to physical illness. Peersupport programs are based on the premise that support from others who have been through a similar experience can help reduce the negative impacts of this disease. The present study reviews the role of peer support on QOL women with breast cancer.Methods: A literature search was performed in Pubmed, Scopus and Scirus by key words Breast cancer , peer support , Quality of life without time limitation. Results: Findings indicated peer-support programs have been found to improve satisfaction with medical care; personal relationships and social support, increase a sense of belonging and improve mood. One-on-one face-to-face and group Internet peer-support programs should be given priority when considering ways to offer peer support.
