The relationship between breast cancer and abortion

Background: Breast cancer includes 23% of all cancers in women. it is the most common and most deadly cancer in women and is one of the most important health concerning factors of women in the world. Therefore, identification of risk factors for this cancer reduces the risk of this disease through prevention strategies. In this study has been investigated the relationship between abortion and breast cancer. Methods: This study is a literature review of articles and internet sites. Results: there is this assumption that sudden natural changes in the breast during pregnancy by induced abortion, can predispose to malignancy breast cells. In studies probably due to methodological reasons, there is many discussions on the link between abortion and an increased risk of breast cancer.while there is some evidence that supports from this connection, there are studies that deny the existence of such communication. Induced abortion has been associated with an increased risk of breast cancer in some retrospective case-control studies, whereas no association has been found in studies with information on abortion recorded prospectively. Conclusion: there is little evidence on the relationship between abortion and breast cancer. Most epidemiologic studies of spontaneous abortion and breast cancer have indicated no association .therefore, The absolute result can not be said on this subject and needs more information about the effects of abortion on subsequent risk of breast cancer.
