Reflexology role in the symptomatic treatment of breast cancer: a review article

Introduction: Reflexology is a popular form of complementary and alternative medicine which has been used in the treatment of many diseases. Diagnosis andtreatment of breast cancer also causes significant physical and psychological effects on patients. Hence the measures necessary to reduce symptoms appear. The aim of this study was to review the effectiveness of reflexology in the symptomatic treatment of breast cancer. methods: In order to achieve the goal of study, searching various information sources such as Ebsco, Science Direct, Google scholar and SID done and finally 20 articles related to the effects of reflexology in the treatment of breastcancer from 2000 has been carefully studied and evaluated. Results: The findings of existing studies show that reflexology beneficial effects in the treatment of some of the symptoms of breast cancer, such as pain, nausea and vomiting, although there is most of the studies about the risk associated with their high bias. In general, studies have been conducted, clearly indicate the effectiveness of this technique in the care of patients with breast cancer are not. Discussion and conclusion: Given the importance of non-drug treatments alongside special treatments and relieve symptoms such as pain, fatigue and stress in chronic diseases such as breast cancer, it is recommended that future studies need to be done with quality control procedures and interventions to be certainly effectiveness in relieving the symptoms of breast cancer raised cam.
