Purpose: Intraocular pressure is a result of the production of acquous humor and its resistance to outflow from the eye as well as the pressure of the episcleral veins, which is typically estimated to be between 10 and 21 mmHg. Various factors such as age, gender, race, systemic diseases, and some drugs, affect the amount of intraocular pressure. We studied the effect of eye movments in defferent gazes (horizontal, straight, left, right and convergence) in healthy people on intraocular pressure.Methods: This descriptive cross-sectional study was performed on 100 patients of 50 women and 50 men referred to Alzahra Ophthalmology Hospital in Zahedan in 1995. In normal healty people under the age of 40 were enrolled in this study and the I.O.P has been checked by a Goldmann tonometer device.Results: The findings obtained from patients indicate that the average eye pressure in right gaze was14.46 , with the standard deviation of 2.53 . The average eye pressure in left gaze was14. 47 the standard deviation of 2.51. The average eye pressure was also in view of the up right ( PP ) was12.56 with the standard deviation of 2.38 . The average pressure was to look at the near 11.17 mm of mercury and the standard deviation of 2.18.Conclusion: The lowest IOP was detected on Convergens with 11.17 and the standard deviation 2.18 and the IOP was everage 14.46mmHg in right and left gazes. And there was no differnce of the IOP between the male and female patients. We have come to the conclusion that convergence will reduce the IOP 3.29mmHg.
