Abstract:
Artemisia dracunculus L. (tarragon) belongs to Asteraceae family has various compounds such as terpenoids and flavonoids that effect on germination, growth and development of other plants. In order to investigation allelopathy effect of leaves aqueous extract of Tarrogon, three different concentration 100%, 75% and 50% of aqueous extract were prepared. 10 seeds of wheat, rice and Echinochloa crus-galli transferred to petri dishes which contained filter paper whatman No 1 and 5ml aqueous extract. All petri dishes were kept under continuous light and at 25С⁰. The per cent germination measured after 3 days and length of shoot and root were measured after 14 days and compared with control. The results showed that the higher and lower inhibition of germination and length of shoot and root by using 100% and 50% occurred. The higher per cent of germination and higher length of shoot and root belong to wheat and lower belong to Echinochloa crus-galli The results from present study revealed that as concentration of aqueous extract raised the allelopathy effect on plants increased but the extent of influence depended on kind of plant. The inhibition effect of aqueous extract of Tarragon on germination was more than on growth parameters
