objective: One of the major concerns among addicts is the relapse of addiction. This study aimed to investigate the effective factors in relapse of addiction in methadone-treated addicts referring to addiction treatment centers in southeast of Iran.Results: The results of this study showed that 162 addicts (64.8%) had relapsed and 88 (35.2%) ones had no relapse to drug abuse. The cost of drug supply (OR = 1.99, CI=95%: 1.03-3.85), the duration of previous rehabilitation (OR = 2.52, CI=95%: 1.36-4.66), and history of alcohol use (OR=2.29, CI=95%: 1.09-4.90) before starting to use drugs were good predictors for relapse of drug addiction.Conclusion: There was a high rate of addiction relapse in southeast of Iran. We recommend further studies related to the relapse of addiction and the observation of addicts by families with regard to the effective variables introduced in this study.
