Abstract:

Introduction & Aim: The electrospun nanofibers show a great promise for developments of many new drug delivery systems (DDS). The current state of electrospun nanofibers with DDS is focused on drug-loaded nanofiber preparation from pharmaceutical and biodegradable polymers with different types of DDS.Methods: Weighed PVA powder was dissolved in distilled water, stirred for about 2 h and finally 8% (w/v) solution of PVA. Weighed drug dissolved was added to PVA. Similarly, weighed PCL was dissolved solution of chloro-form/DMF in order to get a 9.5% (w/v) concentration. The electrospinning conditions for polymers sample were: solution flow rate=0.8 mL/h, voltage=19.5 kV, gauge needle=0.7 mm and distance between the needle tip to the rotation l collector=10 cm.Results: Morphology of neat and drug-loaded electrospun PVA, PCL, and PVA/PCL mats. As it was explained, effective parameters in electrospun nanofibrous mats of PVA, PCL and (80/20) PVA/PCL hybrid were optimized by experimental design method in order to get minimum average diameter of nanofibers for all the samples. Conclusion: The electrospinning conditions of these samples were optimized by the D-optimal experimental design method. This seems to be due to an increase in su rface area to the volume of the nanofibers.
