Persian Contemporary Art Music

From early 1965 until today, there has been significant research into, and numerous studies on, Iranian traditional music, carried out by both domestic and foreign scholars from a number of different disciplines. Recently, the increasing interest in music, both from political and artistic perspectives, has given this subject a more prominent position than in the past. With the prevalence of mass media, amongst other factors, music has become an evermore controversial and debated subject matter, and therefore one of increasing importance for academics and researchers. In particular, the need to study the relationship between music and religious beliefs, as well as the need for analysing the link between people and musicians in Iran, remain some of the most important topics.
