Abstract:

Railway operators adjust train operation and mount wind barriers as counteraction versus the extreme wind. The evaluation of the extreme wind along railway tracks is a serious topic in this field for the adequate execution of these counteraction.In this paper by focusing on the high speed railway, the effects of a type of wind barriers can be analysis. The solution method for this problem is based on a modern method in computational fluid dynamics that named a Lattice Boltzmann Method. Finally, with calculating the aerodynamic forces and moments coefficients the effects of wind-reduction be determined to appraise the protective effects of railway wind barriers.
