Abstract:

According to high importance of reliability and safety in safety-critical systems such as airplanes, chemical processes and nuclear power plants, different tools have been proposed for their assessment that fault tree is one of the most important of them. Due to weakness of Static Fault Tree (SFT) at taking time into account and modelling of complicated behavior of components and their relation with together, an extended model by adding dynamic gated such as operational dependencies, priority, spare, delay, has been introduced, called dynamic fault tree (DFT). Different methods have been proposed for quantitative assessment of DFTs that Montecarlo simulation is one of them. Due to abilities of this method at the modelling of complicated systems with all kind of failure distribution functions, considering all kind of maintenance strategies and adequate accuracy, it is widely used. Our literature review shows that so far hasn’t been introduced any method for dynamic gates safety assessment through Montecarlo simulation. This paper for the 1st time introduces a new method for safety assessment of static and dynamic gates including and, or, csp, hsp, seq and pand. The results show the abilities of the introduced method.
