Abstract:
Evaluation of reliability is a key part of the design and operation of the power system. Changes in the power industry create a greater need for more accurate and more realistic evaluation in power system reliability. A power system, especially at the distribution level due to weather and human errors issues exposed disorders. Having distributed generation as a backup, ensures reliability for electrical power supply. So distributed generation affect the distribution network and it plays key role in commercial, industrial and home sectors .In this paper the value of installed distributed generation as a backup , is quantified when the reliability improvement of a distribution network. There are a lot of indicators to assess reliability. With the use of existing data, improvement of the reliability is measured by reliability indices ENS, SAIDI, CAIDI, ASUI,AENS and SAIFI. The results show that the bad weather conditions are more close to reality and most of these indicators have improved when we used distribution generation as a backup source. The value of placing DG at various distances from the substation is presented. Studies have shown that location and the distance between the installation on the distribution network influenced indicators. It will be useful to electric distribution companies in evaluating the reliability benefits of distributed generation at various distances from a distribution substation
