خلاصه مقاله:
Shape memory alloys (SMA’s) have demonstrated the potential for various smart structure applications due to the capability of producing large stress and large strain. SMA’s undergo a reversible phase transformation from martensite to austenite as temperature increases. This transformation leads to shape recovery and associated recovery strains. The wide application of rotating beams in structures like rotating blades, have made their vibration analysis to be very important aspect in designing such structures. In this study, the free transverse vibration of a uniform rotating beam with embedded shape memory alloy wires in the middle is investigated. The equations of motion for the free vibration of a rotating beam are derived using Lagrange’s equation of motion. A thermo-mechanical model is used to predict the response of shape memory alloy wires in different temperatures and stresses. By taking the nonlinear and thermal characteristics into account, a method is introduced to regulate the dynamic response of such systems. The advantage of the proposed scheme lies in easy implementation of SMA wires and efficient performance of the system in different rotating speeds. Numerical results for a rotating cantilever beam are presented by considering various parameters such as temperature, the number of SMA wires, slenderness ratio and rotational speed. The effect of temperature on the constitutive relations of the structure and phase changes of SMA material has also been studied. Numerical examples demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method in tuning the natural frequencies of structures containing a rotating beam.
