Abstract:

The production process in factories is extremely complex and any configuration is time and cost consuming. One of the requirements for manufacturing is that, these factories have to cope with the rapid product development, complex environments and flexible productions as well as low cost product producing. In the smart manufacturing environment all the process can be follow automatically through the supply chain. According to this chain’s structure, controlling system including huge amount of data, extracting knowledge from these data, visualization of results and using these results for various purposes. Currently decisions process is made by the humans based on their knowledge and experiences. But it is expected to change this scenario in future by allowing self-organized machines or self-optimizing and smart manufacturing systems. Industry 4.0 is named as Internet of Things , since it has capabilities to make communication. The main focus of Industry 4.0 is on smart systems’ ability to understand information, to extract knowledge from information, to modify their behaviors or functionalities accordingly to that extracted knowledge and also to save the experimental results. The key factors for implementing divided and interconnected construction facilities in later, which are named as Smart Factories , are intelligent production processes and systems along with the engineering methods and tools. In this investigation, we attempt to provide a simple survey with comprehensive definitions, background, benefits and future goals of Industry 4.0. Moreover, its applications in industry and manufacturing management and its main challenges in management of smart factories and manufactures are discussed in this article.
