Abstract:

With the application of Internet of Things and services to manufacturing, the fourth stage of industrialization, referred to as Industry 4.0, is believed to be approaching. For Industry 4.0 to come true, it is essential to implement the horizontal integration of intercorporation value network, the end-to-end integration of engineering value chain, and the vertical integration of manufacturing systems. Design and operation of a manufacturing system involve numerous types of decision-making at various levels and domains. A complex system has a large number of design variables and decision-making requires real-time data collected from machines, processes, and business environments. Enterprise systems are used to support data acquisition, communication, and all decision-making activities. Therefore, information technology (IT) infrastructure for data acquisition and sharing affects the performance of a manufacturing system greatly. Our objective is to investigate the impact of emerging Internet of Things (IoT) on autonomous manufacturing systems. Thus, a technical paradigm integrating internet of autonomous things is proposed and analyzed. Besides, automation based on internet of things is developed. Finally, a proposed complex autonomous manufacturing system including internet of things technology is designed
