Abstract:

This is an exploratory study which investigates elementary Iranian EFL learners attitudes towards Persian and English code-switching as a medium of instruction in EFL setting. It also explores the effects of such attitudes on EFL learners academic performance. The participants of this study were 40 elementary EFL learners from three foreign language institutes. Both quantitative (questionnaire) and qualitative (open ended questions) research approaches were used to collect data. The data collected and analyzed in order to measure the differences in the EFL learners’ attitudes towards using both Persian and English languages in teaching process, and the effects of such attitudes on learning process at elementary level
