Abstract:

The purpose of this article has been investigating both the legal and medical reasons and of course vitally the presence of the medical interpreters/translators and offers practical tips for doing so effectively with a trained and professional interpreter/ translator .This new field is called translation or interpretation therapy . This studyreported positive and effective benefits of the presence of professional interpreters (as mental health service) on communication (errors and comprehension), clinical outcomes and psychotherapeutic satisfaction in the region of Mazandaran . The aim of this study was to evaluate: 1) the extent of problems of linguistic differences between clients and therapists 2) the role of a translator/interpreter for facilitating and decreasing these linguistic problems in therapeutic sessions especially in Iran, due to the different languages, cultures, subcultures and strong accents and local languages in the different parts of our country. The processes and results of psychotherapy sessions aredefective in the lack of common languages between patients and therapists. The results of this study recommend the application of translators and interpreters for facilitation and accentuation of therapeutic results when the language of therapists is different from patients. Ethnography showed defective results about relationship, understanding and communication between therapists and patients when they don’t have common language. The therapy sessions ended with less optimal results. Patients confirmed the better efficacy of common language on relationship, understanding and results of treatment processes. Almost all patients were agreeing about the role of translators for accentuation of results of therapy sessions
