Assessment of factors affecting social interaction in public spaces

Public spaces are the greatest interaction fact among various inhabitants and the city. These places belong to the bigger society that is visually and physically available to the community. They are the spaces that city identity is well comprehension. Among a diversity of public open spaces, squares and streets are more significant. These spaces are the main public spaces of the city, which include a large part of public life and the significant of the city street emerged as a connection between urban identity and public space. However, among the different types of streets, urban streets with a stronger social dimension are studied. The streets which are located in urban centers with the strongest aspects of civilization are the basis of this study. In this study Liman Street in Kyrenia (Girne) in Northern Cyprus, is chosen for the case study. Therefore, urban identity and public place terms analyzed in concept of place attachment and concept of place. In this study the relationship between urban identity public places and citizens was explained by using the literature research and photo analysis.
