Hydroxyapatite coating has been widely used on titanium dental implants in last decades. Stress concentration in the implant is an essential factor because it can cause the fracture of the implant, so we compare the effect of different thicknesses of hydroxyapatite layer on stress concentration in a titanium dental implant with finite element method software under axial chewing load of 200 N applied on top of the implant to see which one has the lowest stress concentration and is the best for dental applications. The results show that the best thickness of the hydroxyapatite layer is about 180 micrometer which minimizes the stress concentration in bone and maximizes the life of the implant.
