Abstract:

Dendrimers are becoming more and more popular as drug carriers globally. They are highlybranched molecules which are distributed uniformly and controllable. They are also homogeneous, nano-sized and has a structure that is monodisperse. Dendrimers can prevent many types of molecules which exist in various sizes, different surface properties with functional groups in their branches. They are also able to restrict the negative effects of external factors on them. They can transport a variety of molecules due to their functional groups and ultimately release them in appropriate environments. Different kinds of dendrimers exist which each has many various biological properties. They are also generated by two general synthesis methods. These features have made them ideal nano-carriers for many applications especially in the biomedical application such as drug and gene delivery.With respect to this, the review has focused on a popular strategy of their synthesis, their applications in drug delivery targeting, gene delivery and other biomedical and industrial applications.
