In order to improve the efficiency of conversion of lignocellulosic materials to simple sugars in an environmentally friendly manner, we choose to use the ultrasonic pretreatment. There are lots of factors such as enzyme activity, particle size, acid concentration, temperature and pressure which effect the pretreatment of bagasse for production of bioethanol. Since using high enzyme load and high pressure and temperature condition are costly, it is beneficial to improve a technique to accomplish pretreatment in moderate condition. Thus the sonication was employed in four powers and four exposure time and its influences on four different particle sizes and acid concentration was compared. Finally optimum condition of ultrasound power, time of sonication, particle size and acid concentration that gives the best pretreatment of bagasse was obtained.
