Abstract:

In this report , an electrochemical determination and analysis of selenium is performed at thesurface of a graphite pencil electrode which is modified with a sensing composite involvingacetophenone (2,4-dinitrophenyl)hydrazone , polypyrole and copper nano particles. Theelectrochemical response of the fabricated modified electrode to selenium has been verifiedusing cyclic and square wave voltammetry techniques. The modified electrode exhibited anexcellent electro-catalytic ability for reduction of selenium in the acidic media with theoptimized pH of 2 and at the working potential of −0.75 V (vs. SCE). The sensor is in factcapable for the measurement of the differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) peak currents thatcould be used as the basis for a simple, accurate and rapid method for determining selenium. Theanalytical application of the new sensor was examined with its applicability in petrol waste waterreal samples which displays the accurate and precise analysis for selenium determining withoutany serious interferences.
