Abstract:

High performance motor drives are essential for industrial applications. The most of them require avariable speed performance of motor. DC drives have good characteristics such as simplicity, reliability andlow cost, so they will be suitable in industrial applications. Chopper drives are widely used in dc motordrivers. Four quadrant type for DC motor is intensively used in the adjustable speed drive and position controlapplication, especially in steel rolling mills and traction. Due to the nonlinear properties of the powerelectronic devices and the electrical machines, the control of these systems is complex and difficult. In thispaper, closed loop speed control for four quadrant operation of DC motor with fuzzy-Proportional Integral(PI) controller is studied and simulated, also the results are compared with the PI controller. The results showthat the fuzzy-PI controller has better results. Furthermore, in the fuzzy controller, the performances of theSugeno and Mamdani inference motors are compared. The results show that Sugeno inference motor reducesthe overshoot more than 70%.
