Abstract:
The increase of investigations for finding the more effective trends in the second language (L2) writing led to the emergence of rich history consisting of both theoretical and empirical research in the field of second language acquisition (SLA). L2 writing as a long established domain is still developing through either major or minor modifications. The present paper aims to illustrate an overview of main approaches of the domain to determine what has been done and how it can work for L2 writing practitioners today. It can be useful for both professional and new researchers of the domain in terms of provoking innovative approaches that can emerge from previous practices. At the end, this paper suggests that basic approaches of the domain should not be considered as the old approaches or stereotypes but should be analyzed precisely as they can be updated by current approaches, technologies, and facilities which can contribute to more improvement in the domain.
