Abstract:

It is recommended that 3-to-6-year-old children do 60 minutes of moderate to severe motor activity every day. However, children in kindergartens have rarely a chance to do so. The worst thing is that parents think children are very active in kindergarten, thus they provide little opportunity for children s motor activity at home and their living environment, and actually reduce the amount of motor activity of children throughout the day (1). One of the ways to cope with childhood obesity and to enhance their physical activity level is to have an appropriate fitness schedule at the age before entering school. In fact, due to the increased prevalence of obesity, muscular imbalance and reduced physical activity in schoolchildren, researchers have begun to formulate and plan physical activity at pre-primary school age, since there is a positive relationship between the amount of motor activity in pre-school time and body weight loss and body fat deficiency (2). Considering the importance of sports in childhood and the lack of studies on the development of curricula in proportion with developmental characteristics of Iranian children, this study is aimed to develop a game-based curriculum and to determine the effectiveness of this method as a native model on the development of basic motor skills in children aged 3 to 6 years.
