Introduction: This study was conducted to compare the stress and stressful events among twogroups of subjects with and without breast cancer attending to pathology centers.Methods: In this cross-sectional descriptive study 102 women were recruited that amongthem 20 subjects had breast malignancy and 82 subjects had benign lesions. All the patientswere evaluated by DASS21, Nuremberg social support questionnaire and a checklist for lifestressful events and the responses were compared between two groups of benign andmalignant lesions.Results: The mean DASS scores were 14.31 ± 3.00 and 9.71 ± 6.44 in malignant and benigngroups, respectively with significant difference (P=0.02). The mean anxiety scores were 7.13± 2.85 and 4.68 ± 3.51 in malignant and benign groups, respectively with significantdifference (P=0.03). The mean stress scores were 6.97 ± 3.04 and 6.26 ± 3.12 in malignantand benign groups, respectively with no significant difference (P=0.32).Conclusion: Totally, according to the obtained results, it may be concluded that DASS scoresare differed between patients with and without breast malignancies that is especially relatedto anxiety but not stress in these subjects.
