A study of the embryonic development of flower of the three cultivars of Date Palm( Phoenix dactylifera L.)

This study was conducted in one of the private orchards in Abo Al-Khasib district of Basra governorate during the growth seasons 2015 and 2016. This study included embryonic development of flowers.of date palm cultivars Phoenix dactylifera L. (AL-Halawee, Al-Barhee, AL-Khassab). A study of the embryonic development of flower of the three cultivars, (AL-Halawee, AL- Barhee and AL-Kassab) revealed that the canal of pollination tube (specific canal) appeared after 6 hours of pollination. After 48 hours of pollination occurred fertilization in the three Craplas and complete appearance of pollination tube, which extends from stigma to the base of the ovule and development of ovule integument around of micropyle in the crown shaped and the three carpals remained to develop until the eighth day. Abortions occur for two carpals of the three and the abortion continued after 15 days after pollination and remained only one carpal which grew and develops to fruit.
