Abstract:

Itineraries as the important social, historical documents that reflect many details of peoples lives; many anthropological, social, economic, historical, sociological and cultural hints can be discovered from them. The author of the itinerary mostly writes neutrally and precisely and deeply each point he watches and describes the peoples food, clothing, moralities, customs and the details of places he passes by. The itineraries of Iranian or foreign travellers written during different eras, have various features and prominences which are worthy of more researches from any aspect. So the author of this paper has chosen the itinerary of an educated Hungarian traveller named Arminius Vambery who during his missions entered Iran and stayed there for 7-8 month and visited several important cities of Iran and the results of his visit are gathered in his book named Voyages of a false Dervish to the khanates of middle Asia in which he s described some positive and negative features of Iranians that in some cases may not be pleasant to others. The aim of this paper is the analysis of his opinions and viewpoints about the Iranians.
