Melanocytic nevi are benign neoplasms or hamartomas composed of melanocytes that constitutively colonize the epidermis.Genetic factors ; uv exposure in child hood and blistering factors are the most important etiologies behind the development of melanocytic nevi.Patients with multiple melanocytic nevi or sizable melanocytic nevi have an increased life time rise of melanoma. The ABCDE approach should be thought to such patients to evaluate their nevi. Dysplastic nevus are large pigmented lesions 5 to 15 mm and asymmetric with notched and ill defined borders. Dermoscopy can be used to evaluate such lesions Simple excisional biopsy is the procedure of choice for removal and diagnosis of melanocytic nevus. Different types of lasers have been used reported in articles in management of acquired melanocytic nevi.
