Abstract:
6-Mercaptopurine (6-MP), sold under the brand name Purinethol, is an immunosuppressive medication. It is used to treat acute lymphocytic leukemia, Crohn s disease, and ulcerative colitis [1]. A carbon paste electrode modified with Pt/CNTs and ionic liquid was used for determination of 6-MP in this work. Pt/CNTs was synthesized by polyol method and characterized with XRD andTEM methods. After optimization of electrochemical parameters at pH 8.0, the oxidation peak current for 6-MP was found to vary linearly with its concentration in the range of 0.05–550 μM with detection limit of 0.009 μM using square wave voltammetric method. Finally, the proposed sensor was used for determination of 6-MP in real samples such as tablet and urine.
