Abstract:

Purpose: This research was conducted with the aim of analyzing the content and citations of the articles of Bina ophthalmology journal. Content analysis is an appropriate tool for quick access to the published scientific information, and by using the scale of distances, that is, counting topics and existing structures, to better understand the worked and less-used subject categories, subject-matter and author s viewpoints. Methods: A qualitative- quantitative approach was done to achieve the study goals. The statistical population was all the 834 published articles of Bina Ophthalmology Journal between 2004-2017 years. We used the Excel software to analyzing the data. The data collection tool was a researcher-made check list. Results: The highest proportion of articles was allocated to men, out of which 3627 authors included 2831 men (78%) men and 796 women (21.9%) women. The largest production and publication of the article is in the year 1384 (96 articles); and the smallest is 1396 (34 articles). In terms of organizational affiliation, ShahidBeheshti University of Medical Sciences, Tehran Medical Sciences and Medical Sciences, Iran ranked first to third. Also in terms of scientific rank, Assistant Professors, Associate Professors and Professors are ranked first to third. In the studies, descriptive methods (19.1%), interventional (9.11%) and clinical trial (10.1%) were ranked first to third respectively. Most articles were published by Dr. Mohammad Ali Javadi (19.5%), Dr. Abbas Bagheri (9.8%) and Dr. Masoud Soheilian (9.1%) respectively. Conclusion: It seems that the production and publication of the article has decreased since 2011, so that in the first seven years 478 articles (57.3%) and the second seven years 356 articles (42.6%) have been published. Probably this decrease in the number of articles related to the authors desire to publish their articles in other prestigious journals and the Journal of Current Ophthalmology as well as the journal ophthalmic & vision research.
