Abstract:

Most elderly people tend to spend their last years of their life at home, but today’s living circumstance lead them to living in nursing homes. Most studies have shown sensitivity, loneliness and low quality of life of elderly in nursing homes compared to the quality of life and the mental health of the elderly living in the community. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to predicted psychological resilience based on loneliness and frustration tolerance in the elderly in Rasht. The present study is descriptive and correlational. The statistical population of this research is all elderly people of Rasht in 1397. Among them, 300 elderly people were selected by convenient sampling method. To collect data, Ahwaz Psychological Resilience Questionnaire (1998), perceived loneliness (2007) and frustration discomfort scale (2005) are used. Then data were analyzed by SPSS-24 software. Data were analyzed by using Pearson correlation coefficient and multiple regression analysis. The results of this study showed the significant relationship between loneliness and frustration tolerance with psychological hardiness (P <0.01). The beta coefficients of the predictive variables showed that loneliness and frustration tolerance can predict criterion variable, namely, psychological resiliece (P <0.05). The results also indicated that loneliness and frustration tolerance predict a significant amount of psychological resilience variance. The results of the research exhibit that, as the degree of loneliness decreases and frustration tolerance increases, psychological resilience of elderly increase significantly
